Flood Warning: Jewell, Nuckolls and Thayer, KS and NE

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Northern Jewell County in north central Kansas... Nuckolls County in south central Nebraska... Thayer County in south central Nebraska... * WHEN...Until noon CDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 307 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that much of the Warning area had picked up at least 2.5 to 4.5 inches of rain in the last few hours. Emergency management has reported water over Highway 136 in the Deshler area, and many county roads are experiencing significant flooding. Area creeks and rivers will experience significant rises, and mainly minor flooding of some main rivers is also possible. Additional off and on, mainly light, rain is possible today. Dry conditions return by tonight and will likely persist for at least several days. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Burr Oak Creek, Limestone Creek, Little Sandy Creek, Moorehouse Creek, Beaver Creek, Big Sandy Creek, Spring Branch, Middle Creek, Buffalo Creek, Big Timber Creek, Spring Creek, East Marsh Creek, Walnut Creek, Elk Creek, Middle Limestone Creek, Advent Creek, Little Oak Creek, Lost Creek, South Fork Big Sandy Creek, Dry Creek, White Rock Creek, Cottonwood Creek, Liberty Creek and Oak Creek. - Some locations that could experience flooding include... What the agency told people to do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
