* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Southeastern Jewell County in north central Kansas... Eastern Mitchell County in north central Kansas... * WHEN...Until noon CDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 301 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that much of the Warning area had picked up 2.5 to 4.5 inches of rain over the past 24 hours. Many rural roads are experiencing significant flooding. Area creeks and rivers will also experience significant rises, and mainly minor flooding of main rivers is also possible. Additional off and on, mainly light, rain is possible today. Dry conditions return by tonight and will likely persist for at least several days. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Fifth Creek, Fourth Creek, Turkey Creek, Prairie Creek, Buffalo Creek, Mulberry Creek, West Asher Creek, Marsh Creek, Rock Creek, Plum Creek, Little Salt Creek, Marshall Creek, Little Cheyenne Creek, Salt Creek, Dry Creek, Asher Creek, Antelope Creek, and West Rock Creek. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... What the agency told people to do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
