* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Southern Harrison County in southwestern Iowa... Northwestern Pottawattamie County in southwestern Iowa... Southwestern Shelby County in southwestern Iowa... North Central Douglas County in east central Nebraska... Southeastern Washington County in east central Nebraska... * WHEN...Until 100 PM CDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 203 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Blair, Harlan, Missouri Valley, Logan, Woodbine, Underwood, Fort Calhoun, Neola, Shelby, Minden, Earling, Kennard, Persia, Modale, Panama, Magnolia, Portsmouth and Washington. - This includes the following highways... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
