Rain is coming to an end across the area, however it will take time for the flood waters to recede in Greeley and Wichita counties. Many roads remain closed in the area. * WHAT...Urban areas and small streams flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Greeley County in west central Kansas... Wichita County in west central Kansas... * WHEN...Until 745 PM MDT /845 PM CDT/. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through drainage systems. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 345 PM MDT /445 PM CDT/, emergency management reported flood waters leading to numerous roads being washed out across the warned area. Between 2 and 6.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Leoti, Tribune, Horace, Selkirk, Lydia and Marienthal.

What the agency told people to do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
