...Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity for the following rivers in Texas... Rio Grande At El Paso affecting El Paso County. For the Rio Grande...including El Paso...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Rio Grande at El Paso. * WHEN...Until late Thursday night. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding may occur on Paisano Drive near Executive Center which may lead to road closures. Walking paths and parks located between the Rio Grande levees will be inundated. Despite the increase in flood stage to moderate, no major changes in impacts are expected compared to earlier forecasts. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:05 PM MDT Wednesday the stage was 9.3 feet. - Bankfull stage is 7.5 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 11:05 PM MDT Wednesday was 9.4 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 9.5 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow evening. - Flood stage is 8.5 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 9.3 feet on 08/01/2006. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
