North Skunk River near Sigourney affecting Keokuk County. ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Iowa... Iowa River at Oakville affecting Louisa County. Iowa River at Wapello affecting Louisa County. Skunk River at Augusta affecting Des Moines, Lee and Henry IA Counties. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring but is expected to fall to moderate flooding before going back to major flooding Wednesday evening. * WHERE...Wapsipinicon River near De Witt 4S. * WHEN...Until Saturday evening. * IMPACTS...At 12.5 feet, water affects old U.S. Highway 61 near the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:30 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 12.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 12.7 feet Thursday morning. It will then fall below flood stage early Saturday afternoon. - Flood stage is 11.0 feet.

What the agency told people to do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. The next statement will be issued by this evening.
