* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...North Central Clay County in northeastern Florida... Southeastern Duval County in northeastern Florida... Northwestern St. Johns County in northeastern Florida... * WHEN...Until 1015 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 813 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 3 and 7 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Jacksonville, Orange Park, Unf, Mandarin, Ponte Vedra Beach, Jacksonville Beach, Baymeadows, Nas Jax, Bayard and Ortega. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
What the agency told people to do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
