* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is ongoing. * WHERE...South Central Saunders County in east central Nebraska... Southwestern Cass County in southeastern Nebraska... Northern Gage County in southeastern Nebraska... Central Lancaster County in southeastern Nebraska... Northeastern Saline County in southeastern Nebraska... Southeastern Seward County in southeastern Nebraska... * WHEN...Until 100 PM CDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1136 PM CDT, the public reported ongoing water rescues in portions of Lincoln. Flooding is ongoing. Between 4 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Lincoln, Crete, Waverly, Wilber, Dorchester, Davey, Sprague, Pioneers Park, Emerald, Lincoln Airport, Holmes Lake Park, Walton, Denton, Yankee Hill Lake, Conestoga State Recreation Area, Bluestem State Recreation Area, Walnut Creek Recreation Area and Olive Creek State Recreation Area. - This includes Interstate 80 in Nebraska between mile markers 392 and 412. - For flood safety information, visit weather.gov/safety/flood.
What the agency told people to do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
