River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecast precipitation for the next 48 hours. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Missouri River near Chamois. * WHEN...From late Sunday night to Thursday evening. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:00 AM CDT Friday the stage was 5.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Monday morning to a crest of 19.1 feet early Tuesday afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage late Wednesday morning. - Flood stage is 17.0 feet.

What the agency told people to do

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Rainfall heavier than forecast could cause river levels to rise even higher than predicted.
