* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is ongoing. * WHERE...Southern Butler County in east central Nebraska... Southwestern Saunders County in east central Nebraska... Northern Jefferson County in southeastern Nebraska... Northwestern Lancaster County in southeastern Nebraska... Western Saline County in southeastern Nebraska... Seward County in southeastern Nebraska... * WHEN...Until 100 PM CDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1136 PM CDT, the public reported ongoing flooding in Beaver Crossing. Flooding is already occurring. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Seward, Milford, Friend, Utica, Dorchester, Beaver Crossing, Malcolm, Staplehurst, Garland, Pleasant Dale, Bee, Raymond, Goehner, Cordova, Tobias, Blue River State Recreation Area, Tamora, Pawnee State Recreation Area, Swan Creek Reservoir Number 2 and The Highway 41 and 15 South Junction. - This includes Interstate 80 in Nebraska between mile markers 366 and 390. - For flood safety information, visit weather.gov/safety/flood.
What the agency told people to do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
