Skunk River at Augusta affecting Des Moines, Lee and Henry IA Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring. * WHERE...Iowa River at Marengo. * WHEN...Until late Friday night. * IMPACTS...At 16.0 feet, water affects agricultural land along the river. Water is several feet deep in places. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 15.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 16.9 feet Thursday morning. It will then fall below flood stage Friday afternoon. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
What the agency told people to do
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. The next statement will be issued by this evening.
