FFWFGZ The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... Apache County in northeastern Arizona... * Until 445 PM MDT. * At 148 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area, north of Interstate 40 near the Arizona New Mexico state line. Between 0.75 and 1.75 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.75 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, normally dry washes, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Mainly rural areas of Apache County north of Interstate 40 near the New Mexico state line. This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 358 and 359. This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Black Creek, West Fork Black Creek and Puerco River.
What the agency told people to do
Flooding of washes and creeks will occur, some dirt roads will become muddy and impassable. Paved roads and underpasses could become flooded as well. Low water crossings will become dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
