The notice as issued

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures ranging from the mid 80s to lower 90s at the beaches to the mid 90s to around 100 for the mesas and other higher coastal terrain. Nights will be very warm with low temperatures in the upper 60s to mid 70s. * WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas. * WHEN...Until 8 PM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events.

What the agency told people to do

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
