Northwestern Hidalgo County in southwestern New Mexico... * Until 615 PM MDT. * At 532 PM MDT, a wall of dust was along a line extending from 7 miles north of Separ to 11 miles north of Road Forks, moving south at 10 mph. HAZARD...Less than a quarter mile visibility. SOURCE...Doppler radar. IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel. * I-10 near Lordsburg, NM. Locations impacted include... Lordsburg, Steins, Cotton City, Road Forks, Separ, Lordsburg Playa, Pyramid Mountains, and Shakespeare.

What the agency told people to do

Dust storms create dangerous driving conditions with visibility reduced to near zero. If you encounter a dust storm, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake. Motorists should not drive into a dust storm. PULL ASIDE STAY ALIVE!
