Forecast high river levels today may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible today, 27 August 2026. Areas most at risk are low-lying roads and land around the brooks in Leicester City, including recreational land where water depths could become hazardous. Areas particularly at risk include those around the Braunstone Brook, Lubbesthorpe Brook, Melton Brook, Saffron Brook, Willow Brook, Bushby Brook, Evington Brook, Thurnby Brook and Scraptoft Brook. There is a risk of heavy rainfall from thunderstorms until 22:00 this evening. Further lighter rainfall is forecast throughout Friday, 28/08/2026, and Saturday, 29/08/2026. We are closely monitoring the situation & clearing debris from weed screens. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses & monitor local water levels and weather conditions.
