Subaru Recalls Over 138,000 Crosstrek and Forester Hybrid Vehicles Due to Fuel Leak and Fire Risk

What Happened

Subaru of America, Inc. is recalling certain hybrid vehicles due to a defect in the fuel system. According to the report, when the fuel tank is near full capacity, an increase in ambient temperature may cause the fuel to expand and spill out of the filler neck. This is caused by an insufficient seal on the fuel cap.

A total of 138,306 units are potentially affected by this recall. The specific models include:

• 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid
• 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid

Owners are strongly advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the remedy is completed. Additionally, owners should limit their fuel level to 50% capacity to prevent spills.
