International Motors Recalls IC Bus CESB School Buses Over Brake Line Leak Risk
International Motors, LLC is recalling certain 2023-2027 IC Bus CESB school buses due to incorrect brake line hardware that may cause fluid leaks and increase crash risks.
What Happened
International Motors, LLC (International) has issued a recall for specific school bus models due to a manufacturing defect in the braking system. The brake lines on these vehicles may have been installed using incorrect hardware. This error can lead to physical damage to the brake lines, potentially resulting in a brake fluid leak.
Which Products Are Affected
The recall involves approximately 4,393 units. The affected vehicles are:
- Brand: IC Bus
- Model: CESB School Buses
- Model Years: 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027
What You Should Do
International Motors will notify owners by mail, with letters expected to be sent out by April 27, 2026. Dealers will perform inspections and replace the brake lines and brake line retainers as necessary at no cost to the vehicle owners.
Owners may contact International’s customer service at 1-800-448-7825. The internal recall number for this action is 26502. Additionally, Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) for the affected buses are expected to be searchable on the NHTSA website starting April 20, 2026.
Why This Matters
A brake fluid leak is a serious safety concern as it can significantly extend the distance required to stop the vehicle. In the context of a school bus, this malfunction increases the risk of a crash and threatens the safety of passengers and other motorists.
