Andersen Windows, Inc. has recalled window opening control devices for 100 Series casement windows because the devices can fail, posing a potential fall risk to consumers.

What Happened

Andersen Windows, Inc. has issued a recall for window opening control devices (WOCD) applied to its 100 Series casement windows. When force is applied to the window sash, the device may not perform as intended and can stop functioning. This allows the window to open without control, creating a potential fall hazard. As of February 23, 2026, the company has received eight reports in the United States of the devices being broken or having missing screws, though no injuries have been reported in either the U.S. or Canada.

Which Products Are Affected

This recall involves window opening control devices purchased between October 2015 and December 2025. The recall includes:

  • Product Name: Window Opening Control Devices (WOCD) applied to Andersen 100 Series casement windows.
  • Scope: Includes factory-applied devices and individually sold parts kits.
  • Quantity: Approximately 181 units were sold in Canada and approximately 91,200 units were sold in the United States.
  • Identification: Consumers can find the Product ID number on the label located on the upper right corner of the window.

What You Should Do

Consumers should immediately close and lock all windows utilizing the recalled window opening control devices. You should then contact Andersen Windows to provide your Product ID number and determine if your window is included in the recall.

For affected products, a local Andersen Windows dealer or an authorized service provider will perform an onsite repair. Any uninstalled window opening control devices should be returned to the original point of purchase.

Consumers can contact Andersen Windows, Inc. at 844-815-7332 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT, or by email at [email protected]. Additional information is available on the company’s website.

Why This Matters

Window opening control devices are critical safety components designed to prevent accidental falls. The failure of these devices to restrict window movement as intended poses a significant safety risk, particularly in multi-story residences.
