If outside, find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams. Close curtains and blinds and stay inside away from windows. Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones if there is lightning. If boating, swimming or surfing, leave the water. Be alert for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris. Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris. Assess home, car and property for damage and take photos for insurance if needed. If significant damage occurs, call the SES on 132 500.

Heavy rainfall which may lead to flash flooding. 3-hour rainfall totals between 25 and 40 mm possible, with localised falls up to 50 mm, particularly with thunderstorms. 30 mm recorded at Jerdacuttup in the 2 hours to 9:55 am. 52 mm recorded at Hopetoun Airport in the 6 hours to 10 am.
