BOM has issued Severe Weather Warning IDW21037 for HEAVY RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS. The warning was issued at 8:15 am Tuesday, 16 June 2026 (2026-06-16T00:15:34Z) and expires at 2026-06-16T09:15:34Z.
Affected Areas
Parts of the South East Coastal district in Western Australia (WA). Locations which may be affected include Esperance, Israelite Bay and Salmon Gums.

- Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows.

- If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water.
- Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris.
- Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
- Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris.
- Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live.
- Assess your home, car and property for damage.
- If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance company to organise permanent repairs.
- If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500.
Expected Conditions
Heavy rainfall which may lead to flash flooding is likely to redevelop for coastal and inland parts of the South East Coastal district from early Wednesday morning. Six-hour rainfall totals between 30 and 45 mm are possible with localised falls up to 55 mm. Damaging winds averaging 65 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are likely to develop over coastal areas between Esperance and Israelite Bay before dawn on Wednesday. Damaging wind gusts are also possible further inland later on Wednesday morning.
