Alert Details
BOM has issued a Severe Weather Warning (IDN21037) for damaging winds. The warning was issued at 10:51 am AEST Wednesday, 3 June 2026, and expires at 9:51 am AEST Thursday, 3 June 2026. It is classified as high severity and remains in the update phase.
Affected Areas
The warning covers parts of the Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts. Locations that may be affected include Goulburn, Katoomba, Braidwood, Ebor, Nowendoc, Barrington Tops, Thredbo Tops and Mt Ginini. The warning has been cancelled for the Mid North Coast, Hunter and Northern Tablelands districts.

Park vehicles under secure cover away from trees, powerlines and drains. Secure or remove loose items around houses, yards and balconies. Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines. Report fallen power lines to Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093). For emergency help in storms, call SES on 132 500. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service recommends postponing back country travel until conditions improve.
Expected Conditions
Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with damaging wind gusts around 90 km/h are possible today and Thursday in southern and central ranges. In western Snowy Mountains below 1900 metres and ACT ranges, similar conditions are possible this evening. Above 1900 metres in the Snowy Mountains, damaging winds averaging 80 to 90 km/h with peak gusts around 110 km/h are forecast this evening into Thursday. Blizzard conditions are possible above 1400 metres from Wednesday evening.
