Bridgestone Recalls Duravis R660 Eco Tyres Due to Tread Separation and Rapid Air Loss Risk

Product Recalls high ACCC · · Australia

Bridgestone has issued a recall for Duravis R660 Eco tyres used on Ford Transit and Tourneo Custom vans due to a defect that could lead to tread separation and accidents.

What Happened

Bridgestone has initiated a recall for specific Duravis R660 Eco tyres. The affected tyres may be more susceptible to cuts and partial penetrations when operated in rugged or wet environments. This vulnerability can lead to the oxidisation of the tyre belt, which may result in tread separation and rapid air loss. Consumers may notice signs of this defect through tyre bulges or deformation on the tread surface.

Which Products Are Affected

The recall involves the Duravis R660 Eco 215/65R16C 109/107 tyre. These tyres were supplied as original equipment for the following vehicles:

  • Ford Transit Custom (Model Years 2024 and 2025)
  • Ford Tourneo Custom (Model Years 2024 and 2025)

Additionally, these tyres were sold as replacement units through Bridgestone, the Bridgestone network, and other retailers for use on various other vehicles.

What You Should Do

Consumers are advised to immediately check their tyres for any signs of bulging in the tyre wall, tread deformation, or tread cuts. If any of these conditions are found, stop using the tyre immediately.

To resolve the issue:

  1. If the tyres are original equipment on your vehicle, contact a local Bridgestone tyre store to arrange a free replacement.
  2. If the tyres were purchased as replacements, contact your original tyre retailer or a local Bridgestone tyre store for a free replacement.

Why This Matters

Tread separation while a vehicle is in motion can severely impact handling and significantly increase the risk of an accident, which may lead to serious injury or death.
