The warning specifically covers the Sheep Range and the Spring Mountains-Red Rock Canyon in Southern Nevada. Impacted zones include NVZ018 and NVZ019.

Heavy snow is forecast for elevations above 5,000 feet. Expected snow accumulations include:

  • Above 9,000 feet: Exceeding 2 feet
  • Above 7,000 feet: 1 to 2 feet
  • Down to 5,000 feet: 6 to 12 inches

Wind gusts are expected to reach as high as 50 mph. These conditions will likely result in whiteout conditions, making travel treacherous or potentially life-threatening. Roads, bridges, and overpasses are expected to become slick and hazardous, and gusty winds may bring down tree branches.

Timeline

The storm is expected to arrive in two waves:

  • Monday: The first wave begins at 10:00 AM PST with snow levels starting around 7,000 feet.
  • Tuesday morning: Snow levels will fall below 5,000 feet as the second wave moves in.
  • Wednesday: The warning remains in effect until 10:00 PM PST Wednesday.
