The National Weather Service (NWS) Baltimore MD/Washington DC has issued a Winter Storm Warning for portions of Maryland and Virginia. The alert is effective from 3:00 PM Sunday, February 22, through 10:00 AM EST Monday, February 23.
Affected Areas
The warning covers the following geographic regions:
- Maryland: Frederick and Northwest Montgomery counties.
- Virginia: Western Loudoun and Eastern Loudoun counties.
Expected Conditions
Heavy snow is anticipated across the region. Total snow accumulations are expected to range between 3 and 6 inches for most areas. However, for elevations above 1,000 feet, accumulations could reach between 6 and 12 inches. In addition to the snowfall, winds may gust as high as 35 mph.
