A Tornado Warning is in effect for parts of Vernon Parish until 8:30 PM CST after radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near New Llano.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a Tornado Warning for east central Vernon Parish in west central Louisiana. The alert was issued at 7:53 PM CST and remains in effect until 8:30 PM CST.

Affected Areas

The warning specifically impacts east central Vernon Parish. According to the National Weather Service, the dangerous storm is expected to be near the following locations:

  • Fort Polk: Around 8:00 PM CST
  • Lacamp: Around 8:10 PM CST
  • Leander: Around 8:15 PM CST

At the time of issuance, the storm was located over New Llano, or near Leesville, moving east at 40 mph.
