A Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Charleston, WV. The alert is in effect immediately following excessive rainfall that occurred overnight, creating an imminent threat of flooding in low-lying areas.

Affected Areas

The warning specifically covers Randolph County in northern West Virginia. Impacted locations include Mill Creek, Huttonsville, and areas surrounding the Tygart Valley River.

Expected Conditions

Runoff from overnight rain is causing the Tygart Valley River at Mill Creek to rise. As of 12:33 PM EST, the river gauge was recorded at 11.06 feet and is continuing to rise slowly. This level is expected to flood County Route 39 approximately 225 feet from the bridge heading out of town. Flooding is also imminent or occurring in other rivers, creeks, streams, and flood-prone locations within the warning area.
