Flood Warning Issued for Central Mendocino County Through Tuesday Night
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for Central Mendocino County as heavy rainfall triggers small stream flooding and road closures.
Alert Details
A Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Eureka, CA, for portions of northwestern California. The alert was triggered by small stream flooding resulting from excessive rainfall in the region.
Affected Areas
The warning specifically covers Central Mendocino County. Locations expected to experience flooding include Navarro and Highway 128. Numerous roads in the area remain closed due to rising water levels, and low-water crossings are currently inundated.
What You Should Do
Residents and travelers are urged to follow the safety mantra: “Turn around, don’t drown.” Most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to drive on flooded roads or through inundated low-water crossings. Remain aware of your surroundings and avoid flood-prone areas.
Expected Conditions
Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying locations is currently imminent or occurring. Doppler radar indicates that between 2.5 and 5 inches of rain have already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts ranging from 0.2 to 0.7 inches are possible within the warned area, which may exacerbate existing flooding conditions.
Timeline
The Flood Warning is effective immediately and is scheduled to remain in place until 10:15 PM PST on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
