The Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued an Initial Moderate Flood Warning (IDQ20800) for the Upper Brisbane and Stanley Rivers. The alert was issued at 3:36 pm AEST on Saturday, 7 March 2026, following forecasts of significant rainfall in the region.
Affected Areas
The warning specifically covers the following geographic areas in Queensland:
- Stanley River: Woodford and the reach to Somerset Dam.
- Brisbane River: Gregor Creek and the reach to Wivenhoe Dam.
A broader Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall is also in effect for multiple districts, including the Southeast Coast, Wide Bay and Burnett, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, and several other inland districts.

Expected Conditions
Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast across the catchments from Saturday night through Monday.
- Stanley River at Woodford: Currently at 2.25 m and steady. It is expected to exceed the minor flood level (5.00 m) early Sunday morning and may reach the moderate flood level (6.10 m) by Sunday afternoon. Higher levels are possible.
- Brisbane River at Gregor Creek: Currently at 0.92 m and steady. It is forecast to exceed the minor flood level (3.50 m) early Sunday afternoon and reach the moderate flood level (4.50 m) later that day. Higher levels are possible.

The flood warning is effective immediately. Rainfall is expected to persist through Monday, 9 March 2026. The next official update from the Bureau of Meteorology is scheduled for 10:00 AM AEST on Sunday, 8 March 2026.
