Alert Details
The Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued Flood Warning Number 50, a Minor Flood Warning for the Norman River. This update confirms that minor flooding is currently occurring and is expected to persist as upstream flows arrive.
Affected Areas
The primary area of concern is the Norman River at Normanton. Additionally, minor flooding is continuing at Glenore Weir and along the Yappar River. Impacted infrastructure includes the lower Walker Creek at Burke Development Road, where water levels have reached the bridge deck level. A broader Flood Watch also remains in effect for most of Queensland, including the Gilbert catchment.

Residents and travelers are urged to exercise extreme caution. Do not drive, walk, swim, or play in floodwater as it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams, and waterways. It is essential to obey all road closure signs and plan routes to avoid flooded roads. For local emergency management updates, visit www.disaster.qld.gov.au/warnings.
