Product Recalls high ACCC · · Australia

Indian Roots is recalling Golden T-Light Candle sets because unsecured button batteries and missing warnings pose a severe risk of injury or death to children.

What Happened

The Golden T-Light Candle 12pc set is being recalled because it does not comply with mandatory safety standards for products containing button or coin batteries. The battery compartment is not properly secured, which may allow children to access the batteries. Furthermore, the product is missing essential warning information regarding the dangers of button batteries and the necessary steps to take if a battery is swallowed or inserted into the body.

Which Products Are Affected

The recall involves the following product:

  • Product Name: Golden T-Light Candle 12pc Set
  • Description: Button battery-powered tealight candles used for Diwali decorations
  • Bar Code Number: 2 024082 714158

What You Should Do

Consumers should immediately stop using the tealight candles and store them in a location inaccessible to children. The product should be returned to the place of purchase to receive a full refund.

For more information, consumers can contact Indian Roots by calling 0401 140 601 or by emailing [email protected].

In the event of a suspected battery ingestion, call Triple Zero (000) if the child is bleeding or having difficulty breathing. Otherwise, contact the Poisons Information Centre immediately at 13 11 26 (available 24 hours a day).

Why This Matters

Button and coin batteries pose a significant hazard to children; if swallowed or inserted into the body, they can cause serious internal injuries or death in as little as two hours. In Australia, these batteries have been linked to multiple serious injuries and fatalities among children.
